Our Story

NatureWorks' story starts during the Covid lockdown of March 2020 when I, Cindy, after years of battles with eczema and other skin reactions to cleaning products, decided to use the free time to start creating my own.

There starts an unexpected journey, as it turns out that all these products we use every day are FULL of toxic, allergenic, controversial ingredients leading to health issues and with a terrible impact on the environment.

Even the ones claiming to be green / organic / eco-friendly (petrol and palm derived ingredients, notoriously toxic preservatives, perfumes etc.…).

On top of this, the new labelling system was making super difficult the process of deciphering their very opaque composition. You get it, there is nothing clean about them!

So it took nights and nights of reading, tons of documentation, and gazillions of trial and errors.

But eventually, I made it! The messy kitchen, turned into a lab for months, the lost face of the husband who wasn’t allowed to move around anymore (I even ended up nicknamed “the bomb maker” after a while 😂), all this was not in vain: a full range was born!

Products that worked wonders, left the skin intact, did not produce any toxic fumes, all with clean / natural / local ingredients. Finally! Cleaning stopped being a punishment, I did not dread the eczema crisis that would normally occur anymore. I could happily make my home sparkle again in total comfort.

Then I started thinking of everyone else out there facing the same issues as I used to, who were not working from home, who did not have time to go through the same process nor the time to make their cleaning products themselves, source the right ingredients etc.

I decided to market them.

Still, something did not sit right.

I’ve always been pestering the brands that cheat us: open a can of corn and half of it is water, is the perfect illustration of what I mean by that.

How could I take this concept further? Give it a real coherence?

Eureka!

I decided to not reinvent the wheel, in fact I went straight for what I thought was just common sense, good ol’ grandmas’ ways with a twist of modernity:

Remove the need for water, which in turn removes the need for plastic or any single use material: powder the product, sell it in sustainable / eco-friendly / compostable paper sachets.Upcycle glass bottles that would become lifelong containersLocally source stainless steel drums that also stay with you for life!Handmade, right here, in Dubai

That is how NatureWorks was born, out of necessity, considering every aspect of what makes a great 21st century brand. I am proud to say that the social considerations also played a major role into what I wanted to bring to the world: everyone, every household can finally afford home-care products that work, respect their health, their environment and their budget.

And because this is not a dictatorship, you my friends, can still have the option of buying a scented version of each item (with fragrance oil, not essential oils, they are too precious but also too polluting and allergenic).
